Jul/03 Road Show Magic for Carnival Cruise Lines With a desire to entertain and inform their cross-country audiences of travel agents and industry folk, Carnival Cruise Lines invited Fleming Design to create a presentation that would captivate a sometimes jaded audience and deliver a toe-tapping taste of the magic that Carnival has provided over the years.
While showcasing the themed cruise ships and experiences of "Today's Carnival," Carnival also wanted to commemorate their 30th Anniversary and share their history in a fun and refreshing way - "The Evolution of Fun."
For easy editing and translation to multiple languages by Carnival's staff, the presentation had to be developed in PowerPoint, pushing both the creative and technical capabilities of the software to deliver the energetic "wow" factor the client was looking for.
Fleming began by creating a richly-designed interface for the presentation that broke away from a typical PowerPoint template and incorporated still photography that captured the luxurious essence of the Carnival experience. We then handed the ball off to Fleming's interactive subsidiary, Switch Interactive, who digitized and embedded Carnival TV spots, and composed an optically dazzling animated sequence of "The Evolution of Fun" to showcase Carnival life through the years.
Switch took footage from as far back as the 1972 maiden voyage (where the ship ran aground!) and seamlessly spliced it together with an animated timeline, beginning with the early years set to a disco 70's beat, and closing with video, images, and music of today's popular Carnival brand.
The sequence had the travel agents moving in their seats ... and conveyed the necessary information to break preconceptions about the Carnival product, its target audience, and about Carnival's position as one of the world leaders in the cruise ship industry.
