1983. There was no grand opening celebration, no IPO. Just the lights burning late each night to signal that doors were open and a 'can-do' attitude was the order of the day.
As it turned out, saying 'yes' to so many early requests was a pretty good initial business plan. From daily ad resizes for a national electronics store, to the info-packed catalogues that enticed vacationers to travel via Fiesta West and Canada 3000, Fleming became the place to go for stringent production values and strong design. These were qualities that became the foundation for the company as it flourished over the years, attracting new employees ... and new partners. In 1990, corporate communicator Catherine Winckler incorporated her business into FCG, and designer Blair Pocock added an even stronger design aesthetic to the mix. By 2006, the multi-disciplinary firm had grown to 30, precipitating the purchase of a new corporate building in a thriving new area of the city, just blocks from the future Athletes' Village for the 2010 Winter Olympics. |

A love of design and an appreciation for how it can contribute to a company's business goals is what brought Blair to Fleming Design, first as senior designer, and then as a full partner along with Catherine Winckler in 1990.Blair has a degree in graphic design and continues to work to elevate the teaching standards and quality of design in Canada. He is an active member of the GDC (Society of Graphic Designers of Canada), working on the Portfolio Committee to vet new members against the group's high standards. Blair is also the partner responsible for the corporate branding division, Fleming Design, and is responsible for the Company's much loved anchor client of close to 20 years - Nintendo of Canada.
